Build the intelligence.

LokalCore is a long-term AI engineering project designed to grow from an independent cognitive core into a persistent interactive assistant — and eventually into embodied humanoid intelligence.

The vision

One project. Three evolutionary stages.

We are not building a chatbot and hoping it becomes something larger later. The architecture is being designed from day one for a much longer journey.

01 / MIND

Lokal AI Core

A model-independent cognitive platform for inference, memory, reasoning, tools, agents, multimodal understanding and future LokalLM models.

02 / PRESENCE

Lokal Assistant

A persistent, voice-and-vision enabled assistant that can understand context, plan tasks and interact with authorized computers, devices and services.

03 / BODY

Lokal Humanoid

A future physical embodiment where the same cognitive identity connects to a dedicated robotics and safety stack rather than controlling raw actuators directly.

Architecture

The model is a component — not the system.

LokalCore separates cognition, models, memory, tools, permissions and physical embodiment. That makes each layer replaceable, testable and independently upgradeable.

This also lets LokalCore run with different models and hardware without changing its identity or rebuilding the entire product.

Roadmap

Build the foundation before the spectacle.

The roadmap deliberately starts with replaceable interfaces, safety boundaries and reproducible engineering before moving into autonomy and robotics.

Phase 0
Foundation

Architecture, repository standards, configuration, observability, testing and model contracts.

Phase 1
AI Core & Inference

Provider-independent model routing, streaming and first local conversations.

Phase 2
Memory & Retrieval

Conversation, semantic and episodic memory with provenance and deletion controls.

Phase 3–5
Tools, Agents & Assistant

Permission-aware action, task planning, desktop runtime, voice and vision.

Phase 6–8
World Model, Multi-device & LokalLM

Persistent environmental context, distributed presence and our own specialized model family.

Phase 9+
Robotics & Humanoid Embodiment

Simulation first, then manipulation, mobile robotics and eventually a full humanoid platform.

Principles

Power needs boundaries.

Model-independentNo single model provider should define the architecture.
Local-firstRun sensitive intelligence and memory locally whenever practical.
Permission-awareReasoning does not automatically grant permission to act.
ObservableImportant actions, decisions and tool usage should be traceable.
Embodiment-readyThe cognitive core must remain independent from any one physical body.
Safety-separated roboticsHigh-level intent and low-level physical control remain separate systems.

We are at the beginning.

LokalCore is currently in its foundation phase. The public repository documents the architecture and tracks the engineering journey as the system evolves.
